Best bread basket on Cape Cod! The Marshside is a beautiful building and overlooks the marsh and Sesuit Harbor in East Dennis. All of the tables have a great view. They don't take reservations and there is usually a wait, but they make the wait less painful in a lot of ways. They have areas inside and outside to sit until your table is ready and a cocktail waitress comes around to take drink orders. They also often put out cheese & crackers. For kids they offer toys to play with, including American Girl dolls. Their menu has a variety of local and traditional options: chicken parm, burgers, seafood. Definitely worth a visit and the wait!

Even though it's a little expensive, the food is delicious. My family and I have never been disappointed with a meal here. This time We started off with a cup of the clam chowder and the butternut squash and apple soup, perfect way to start the meal. For our main meals, I had the lobster Mac and cheese, my dad had the haddock, mom had baked stuffed shrimp and my sister had a veggie burger. We all left stuffed and completely satisfied. I would recommend the lobster Mac and cheese to anyone!!!!!

Food is good. Workers are all 16 years old. They're AC is controlled from Boston so be prepared to ROAST in there. It was like 85 degrees and they "couldn't do anything about it".

I had a wonderful meal, good service, and there were great views. I did not have my kids, but they would have loved it too. Very family friendly.

I don't understand these negative reviews. We almost didn't try it and are so glad we did. It was shoulder season for lunch and the place was busy but no lines. The building is absolutely stunning. Open rafter ceiling with beautiful views of the marsh. We scored a window table on a sunny day - a good start. Service was very good, but formal, not chatty. Food came out in short order. First off, great presentation. The Cobb salad, beet salad and chicken puff pastry looked like pictures from magazines. I wish I had taken a picture of the oysters. My wife (who doesn't like them) said they were beautiful. The Cobb was as good as it gets, moist chicken, fresh ingredients, crunchy meaty bacon bits and homemade blue cheese dressing. The beet salad was delightful and the chicken puff pastry was very tasty. The oysters on half shell not only loked good, were the best I have had all year. Perfectly shucked, lots of liquor - scrumptious. I felt like I could only give 4 stars because we went for lunch not dinner. We are planning on a return trip for dinner. I hope our next experience is as good as this visit.

We have been going to the Marshside since it was a small cozy place with good food and lovely views. Our last visit while our children were staying with us was a big disappointment. Service was fine. The wait was reasonable for a summer evening. The food though was sub par. Both orders of fried clams were over cooked. It was brought to our server's attention but nothing was done about it until the check was delivered and there was no adjustment to our check. The other meals were good, but not anything special. We are going to give the Marshside a rest and possibly give it a try again off season.

Disappointing late lunch. Old fish w ammonia taste. Little beurre blanc sauce. Chicken parmeisian too heavy. Nice decor and view.

I have eaten at the Marshside for years. I ate hear for breakfast even before the major, fantastic new building. Normally I find it ok food with good service. It can get quite busy. Tonight I ate at the bar and due to celiac disease I turned away the bread and the bar tender rolled his eyes! When I ordered the Marshside wedge with no dressing but oil and vinegar on the side he said. So you want three pieces of lettuce with tomatoes!! Really if I don't want the ranch dressing that's what I get!! Great location. Beautiful view. That's about it .

Marshside is our number one place to go on the cape. Beth the bartender is awesome. I highly recommend the corn chowder, Tuscan BLT and the burger on a pretzel roll. They also make a really good Moscow Mule !!!

I really enjoyed Marshside! By the looks of the dining room and waiting area, this place is well liked in the area and all for good reason. First of all, free valet? Sweet! The porch is a super cute spot to wait for a table. We didn't have to wait (lucky) but as we were leaving, we saw families and couples sipping wine while waiting and it seemed like such a cute, nice spot to do that. We had a group of six, and we lucked out with a table sort of behind the bar along the windows. What a view! It is such a lovely area and a very pretty view. I very much enjoyed also that we had our own little area, so while it was louder in the main part of the restaurant, we could all hear each other, which was nice. I started off with the clam chowder. It was quite tasty with a good amount of clam and it also wasn't overly creamy which I personally like. I then had the lobster roll. I just can't get enough of the lobster when I'm in the Cape (yes, lobster for lunch that day, too!), and this one was delicious. Big, meaty pieces of lobster, not overly dressed and perfectly sweet and tasty. I skipped dessert as I was totally stuffed, but by the looks of their offerings, dessert must be good as well. The service was really friendly and efficient, but they didn't rush us at all and didn't seem concerned that we were just chatting away and not paying attention to the menu. Definitely worth a visit. I don't know exactly how prices stack up as my sandwich was on the lower end of the price range, but it seemed to skew a bit pricey. Quality is definitely there, though, and I don't think it was overwhelmingly expensive. Good drink list as well to round out the menu. Worth a visit but definitely go early or sip your drink on the porch as this place was hopping!

This is a gem of a restaurant, sited, appropriately, at the side of the marsh, wonderful views from most tables. The menu has something for everyone, is priced moderately and the food well prepared. The spicy buffalo chicken sandwich was super, as was the stuffie with clam chowder. I could go on but you should go see for yourself! Preferably before dark.

One of those classic places where you take family and/or friends when they come to visit you on the Cape. I was the visitor recently, and I found Marshside quite delightful - beautiful rooms, friendly efficient service, tasty food, and a bit of local history behind it. I would go back on my next Cape visit for sure.

First of all the parking situation is terrible..... You need to be there by 5 PM sharp to eat (especially in season) I had the clams there about 2 years ago, and I was violently ill. I hadn't gone back until last week...majority ruled in the party I was with.. I was a bit hesitant , but with that being said... the bread basket they serve is delightful... I had the fisherman's platter without the scallops, and substituted it with Salmon... cod/haddock was fine .. the stuffing on the shrimp was dry, and a bit overcooked...with French fries and broccoli ( which they need to cut for you, and not serve it to you like you live in the jungle) ....my friend had the chowder and she raved... my husband had haddock, and he seemed to enjoy it.... there are so many places to dine around there... this is not on the top of my list....good drinks...

Oh, the Marshside restaurant is a great looking eatery with good enough food but when the weatger turns warm the service goes south. I eat here year round and it's good foood that is convent and typically the service is great, but this year things have been falling apart. Just today I take the family for dinner, party of 6 and are informed it's a 45 minute wait, ok it's the busy season. After 65 minutes I inquire about when we woild be seated, 10 minutes I am told. Ten minutes later I am told ten minutes again! So I speak with manager who states, "we seat the regulars first." After a few secinds she realizes that I am in fact a regular who eats in her establishment about twice a month and low and behold a table opens right up. She then avoids us for the entire meal and has the waitress apologize. So, if you go be ready to wait, watch your place on the seating form, and remember that the regulars willl be taken care of first until winter rolls around.

Visited last week. An error was made and I didn't receive my meal until my family was almost done eating. While the mistake was caught and corrected I think some portion of our meal should have been comped whether that be an appetizer or desert for the kids. The food was good as always.

This place is terrific. It is a beautiful facility, impeccably maintained and staffed by friendly, competent people. We ordered a burger, chowduh, buffalo fingers, chicken, and everything was delicious. The view from the windows is excellent, too. Lots and lots of old folks were there, so it was lively but not rowdy.

Food good, service could improve Waited 30 min for a table, as the place slowly cleared out, only 9:45 we were brought our keys from valet parking so they could go home, our car was parked at the end of the lot, and a group of 4-5 waitresses sat near bar and kept looking until we were done. As we walked out, 5-6 staff workers including ? Manager stood near exit and chatted as they talked about leaving and no one made effort to say good night or thank you.

We have a favorites list of restaurants that we go to down the Cape, but try new ones to work into the rotation. I've wanted to try Marshside for a few years but won't be adding it to the list. This is a prime example of how not to treat customers: A few weeks ago, I called them at 7:45 and asked when they close. Since it wasn't prime season yet, I knew it would be earlier than what's on their website or Yelp. I was told the kitchen closes around 8:30, so try to get there before that. We head over and get there around 8:15 - only to find that the door is locked. Honestly, I've never found a restaurant locked while they're still customers there!! No one comes to the door for at least 5 minutes, until finally some customers leave. We get in and the hostess says the kitchen is closed (it's 8:20). My wife nicely tells her that we called ahead, but she gets nowhere with her. The hostess tells her of some horrible places nearby that might be open. Though the hostess seemed pleasant about it - this is NOT the way you treat customers! In addition to losing our business that night -- I was also looking for a place on the Cape to have a large work function in early Fall. Needless to say, Marshside won't be getting the thousands I'll be spending on it.

We visit the Cape every summer and usually make a point of going to Marshside for dinner one evening during our stay. We love the building and location and if you are lucky, you might get a good table by the windows and be able to enjoy the beautiful views of the marsh. The food is good and we particularly like the cheese sticks that are included in the bread basket. The only concern that we have is that the hostesses at the front desk are the least welcoming people that we have ever encountered in a restaurant. When we go to Marshside in July, we know that we are going to have too wait. We don't have a problem with that. It would be nice, however, to be welcomed with a smile and to be made to feel as though our business is appreciated. It's really too bad, as Marshside is a restaurant that we look forward to visiting each year. Please, hostesses, show a little bit of respect and cheerfulness to those of us who are vacationing. You go on vacation sometimes, too, don't you?

A very popular restaurant. We arrived at 5 PM as a local recommended and the lot was nearly full. The service was fast and courteous. The wait staff and kitchen clearly knew the crowds were coming. The seafood was fresh and tasty. The deserts were delicious. The restaurant itself is in a new building and has wonderful views of the marshes. By 6 PM valets were moving around cars like crazy to accommodate the new arrivals and there were 20 people waiting for tables. You have been warned, don't arrive late and complain about the wait. This restaurant is well worth an early arrival.

Short: go somewhere else, or go with low expectations; this is basically Red Lobster quality for 2-3x the price. Long: went here on the recommendation of several locals. Four people, four different entrees; only one of them was good. Left disappointed and even told the staff so on my way out, but they didn't care. There was an hour wait, but cocktail service on the porch tided us over. They also serve supermarket cheese and crackers in the waiting area. The adult beverages are good, so it could be a nice place to just hang out at the bar, if you can find a spot. There is free valet parking. The building is nice and not too loud considering how big and open it is. Food: the lobster mac is to die for and the lobster rangoons are pretty good. Nothing else we ordered was worthwhile. Crab stuffed shrimp are filled with filler (not crab) and overcooked. Swordfish is not properly cooked, although the overall taste was good. Stuffed haddock was bland and the staff actually said "yeah that's not very good" (so why is it on the menu?). They advertise homemade desserts but we didn't bother (and the waitress didn't offer) since the mains were unsatisfactory. Service: we didn't lack for anything, but the waitress had a demeanor that she didn't want to be there. The way she placed/tossed things on the table and answered our questions was indicative of either bad attitude or poor training.

Booorrrriiinnnng! The marshside really frustrates me for dinner. Great location, great view, really nice in side but... the menu is boring. I have ordered various items of the menu, most recently the bake stuffed haddock and the ribs. They are both so bland and there is no love or TLC with the preparation. I am betting most if not all of their side dishes are frozen and not fresh. Create some exciting options or specials and my star rating will increase. This is a great place for a drink or lunch but if you are a foodie it is not for you.

Used to be an amazing local dive - rustic and lovely with great service and solid food. More times than not you'd spot someone like Johnny Kelly eating at a corner table. Then....they got all high and mighty: built a new (beautiful) building, created a snotty menu, raised the prices. So now: you wait forever, the service is bland and sometimes rude and sometimes not attentive, and it's just not worth it. At all. It's a shame - the location is gorgeous and the new building is really nice. But everything that made this place a gem is totally gone with the pretense. I miss the old Marshside. And I'll go to the new one again.

We arrived after dark so we couldn't take full advantage of the amazing view of the marsh provided by the huge windows. However, we were treated to a "light" show over the marsh caused by a thunder and lightening storm. In sum: the restaurant is perfectly situated for beautiful viewing of some of the Cape's best sights. The food is the perfect complement to the view and atmosphere. The bread provided before dinner is varied, fresh and delicious. I ordered the scrod, a flaky, mild white fish that I had never heard of. It was absolutely delicious. No doubt flavored by lots of butter, but I didn't mind. Accompanied by butternut squash (delicious) and a huge baked potato. Everything was out of this world. For dessert, we went with the blueberry shortcake because they were sold out of the strawberry. After biting into the blueberry "cake" (almost had the consistency of a scone), I was glad that the strawberry was sold out. It was incredible and unique. The blueberries were plump and sweet and the whipped cream was the perfect "icing on the cake." A great stop for locals and tourists alike. But be prepared for a wait and to leave your car with the valet - this place gets busy!!

The new Marshside is a very nice experience. We got a great window booth with panoramic views of the marsh. Started with Calamari and a Cape Cod martini. Calamari was fresh and tender. Enjoyed the Seafood Alfredo. The sauce was tasty but not overly rich. The shrimp, lobster and scallops were cooked just right. All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Check this place out.

What a great place. We drove all the way down from Marshfield on my first trip to Boston and that was a special place. I had the clam chowder and it was helluva yummy! Thick, creamy, tasty and I really wanted to lick the bowl. Upscale environment and lots of business dressed people (they all looked like they sell homes) but then again it was Cape Code, I will be back!

First thing - I was so IMPRESSED by the marshside VIEW!!! Big windows! Beautiful scenery! Wow! I mean, this place is simply AMAZING!! Everybody's taking his/her time enjoying the Sunday afternoon; it was 3pm. The bread basket (recommended by a local), the sassy shrimp, the seafood platter, and the marshside scrod are what you've gotta go for! Yeah, so GO for IT!! I ensure that you fall in love with it!!

Have always been a fan of the Marshside unit my last two visits. My husband was served raw chicken last time and this time he was served what looked like a TV dinner. Have watched a slow decline in food and service. I don't know what has changed but we won't be going back.

I haven't been to the Marshside since it has been redone and I am sorry it has taken me so long to go! I was prepared for a wait, as anyone should be in the middle of summer. However, with a beautiful patio to sit on while you wait and with a cocktail waitress getting drinks as the sun was setting, it was very enjoyable. We waited an hour and got sat in the main dining room, closer to the bar. The inside was absolutely beautiful and although I did not have a view of the marsh the other people in my party did and the entire ambiance of the place was awesome. We had an awesome server, I didn't get her name though. She was friendly and knowledgeable and never forgot anything, and everything we asked for was brought to us promptly. I was surprised with this seeing as it was busy. I had a stuffed quahog which was definitely home made and definitely delicious! Not very spicy which I like. You could taste the fresh clams, more so than I have ever tasted down here. I also had a bite of my friend's lobster stew which is bisque with chunks of lobster in it and the bisque was the best I have had in a while. Had the chicken parm for dinner which was also great. The bread before the meal may be what keeps us coming back, it was amazing! At the end of the meal we all said we were not expecting everything to be as amazing as it was. We each had a glass or two of wine and/or martinis and drinks were reasonably priced. Food was a little more than average priced but for the quality of food we received we didn't mind paying extra. I told my family when I got home that the prices were exactly like the competitor's down the street but the food, ambiance, and service was a thousand times better. I would much rather spend my money at a place like the Marshside than others. I can't wait to go back, well done.

Beautifully redone wow have not been in a while. Excellent lunch here wish I could have tried the stew or chowder I find it just a bit overpriced too bad. They do have a nice place but like others have said I miss the a bit of the old touches too. They used to have bird feeders out back was always fun spot to watch the birds. Nice entry beautiful landscape.

Drove by the place a few times during the summer, there was always a line so we didn't stop, we didn't want to wait. Living on the cape we decided to go off season. We did and we Love it, great view, clean, airy & the servers have been great. Please don't tell anyone I don't want to wait in line . Thanks

Best clam chowder I have ever had! Large portion and great when paired with a Cesar salad. I topped my salad with the freshest seared scallops!

Had a great lunch today. The service was excellent and done with a smile. The food was very good, tender and lightly breaded, the onion rings were done to perfection, hot and lightly breaded. Had the corn chowder and it didn't disappoint. Tried the eggplant parm served hot and very tasty. The view was excellent and enjoyed watching the birds. All in all a very pleasant lunch.

We started going to the original Marshside when it first opened, as it was pretty much the only family-style dining spot in East Dennis, and always enjoyed the New England homestyle dinners there. Having the seasonal bluefish and the baked scallops was always a highlight of visiting my Grandparents, who were natives. The new Marshside is, frankly, a completely different restaurant in more ways than one, and really shouldn't be compared to the old place apples to oranges (or pot roast to scrod, as it were). The old crowded but homey restaurant building is now a fairly wonderful sort of wooden arena, with multiples levels to accent the views of the marsh. There's no longer real outdoor seating -- perhaps to avoid sullying the views of the indoor diners, but also probably to keep the trash from blowing into the marsh -- and the parking lot is paved. More to the point at hand, while retaining the New England traditional menu, the new Marshside has upscaled considerably. The menu is really on the $$$ side now - if you have a drink, an appetizer, and an entrée, you're looking at $30 a head before dessert (the main courses are hovering in the low $20s now) for dinner. As far as execution: really wonderful. I'd been a number of times since the re-opening, with my parents, but took Mrs. The Crank with me on our last visit and got to watch her take the whole thing in afresh. Service was a strangely wonderful mix of "hiya hon" I remembered from the old days that was also respectful and attentive like you expect from a high end restaurant, and the food was executed flawlessly. Some of the seafood dishes are a little too "sauced up" but they still do difficult things (like getting scallops just right) well, and you can still get the fish and chips to go with your $10 martinis. The house specialty these days I'd say is the Lobster Mac and Cheese, which has very large pieces of Lobster in it, a very thoughtful cheese mix, and is not at all what you might think. It's a successful hybrid of New England comfort food with high end ingredients. Any of the comfort food favorites are great: the meat loaf, penne, or pot roast, etc. They do fried seafood well, without over breading or over oiling the fish, and the fresh market fish, while usually pricey, have rarely disappointed me. Please don't bother with the shrimp, which you can get anywhere, go with something more regional, like the cod or my all-time favorite, the baked scallops, or, when available, the absolutely to die for baked bluefish. The new Marshside does have a full-service bar and a reasonable although not exceptional wine list. Good beers from a variety of sources, but I do note Naragansett is no longer available on tap 8-). Do I miss the old Marshside? Indeed, it had many charms as a down-home breakfast and lunch place. But the delicacies of keeping a place on the marsh's edge in service probably were not economically sustainable without going high end to pay for the rebuilding project, and my hat is definitely off to the owners for undertaking the project (and its attendant financial risk) and executing it so successfully. Obviously it remains to be seen how it will sustain the quality over time. I'm very tempted to bump this up to five stars, but I fear nostalgia is having a twin effect on my sense of whether or not this is a world-class joint (I'm stingy with that fifth star) and in terms of value for experience (wait times are very long in the summer months) it's not quite there. But a very solid four stars, and if you're looking for a special, relatively unique spot for dinner and don't mind the upper-endy prices, by all means this is your place.

First of all - drop dead beautiful views! We went for lunch and were really struck by how beautiful the building and the setting is. I had a scallop Caesar salad - which was really exceptional in two ways: the scallops were perfectly cooked and treated with respect, and the salad dressing was perfect - not that excessively "creamy" fake Caesar dressing found in most restaurants Served with crispy "something special" wedges of cheesy-cracker things - amazing. I'm not a "lady who lunches" and rarely has a lunch of this calibre - but I think it's safe to say this restaurant is a keeper. Service was spot on, also! Ambiance - sort of a weird mix of "tourists love it here" and "upscale/romantic". I think I need to come back one evening with a date :)

This past week we were on our annual family vacation to Dennis. My oldest child was heading off to college and we wanted to have a celebratory dinner. The Marshside was our first choice. We were a large group of 15 people and the Hostess, bartenders and manager worked so hard to get us all a table together so we could celebrate together. The service was excellent as was the food and wine (as usual). We will be back next year for sure! Thanks for making it a great night!

Excellent dinner last night. Martinis well prepared and served. Delicious rainbow beet salad app, squash bisque also delicious. Swordfish entree was excellent. Server by the name of Amanda was very knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive . Can't wait to go back.

  • Carol L.

If you read between the lines everyone is very impressed with atmosphere! Granted it is lovely. However crowded, long waits and mediocre food. The memorable feature is the bread basket. Saturday night we each got swordfish. I got the special and my husband got the tips. I think they were both pretty tasteless. Along with one glass of wine each it the bill came to $75 plus tip. I can cook a better fish meal from grocery store purchased fish. If you can, wait until the off season when they aren't so rushed. They really don't care either if they close early, tell you a shorter wait than reality, or if you are unhappy. The crowds give them what they want - money. However there are way better restaurants on Cape Cod.

  • Debra F.

Agree with everyone that the view here is beautiful and the building is wonderful. Food is good, service is good. But.....hello, buy some more martini glasses. You either do not buy enough or your employees are not getting them washed fast enough. Who wants a martini in a brandy sniffer. Once is one thing, but this happened the last time we were here. It's like having a glass of wine in a beer mug!

  • Mary D.

Food doesn't match the building. This place was remodeled a few yrs back. It's a stunning building with great views. However the food is just OK. I'm always so disappointed when I go. I had chicken francaise when I went.. It was 3 little breaded /fried tenderloins over buttered linguine. Very flat tasting. I picked all the breading off. Not sure how many more times I'll go back. I keep hoping they will get a new chef or menu. Not to mention it's pricey.

  • Rebecca V.

A bit overpriced. A lot of locals come here. The Marshland seafood stew is amazing but the bowl size is more like a bowl. Very nice dining room. The servers are very personable. It was pretty crowded here so I would suggest making reservations.

I had high hopes for this restaurant. It was a beautiful setting with a view of the marsh. The menu was interesting, but really no surprises. We had an attentive server in the beginning while we placed our orders. It went downhill after that. It took 30-35 minutes to bring 3 sandwiches with fries to our table. Other tables who ordered after us received their food before us. Really!!!! 30 minutes to get our lunch of sandwiches?!? The server stopped by to apologize for the delay, and said our order will be out soon. Ten minutes later, the food arrived. I ordered sweet potato fries(it was an option), and they arrived to the table barely warm. The server came by to ask if everything was alright, and I told her about my fries. She said "they just came out of the fryer." I said no, they are not hot, and would she like to try one. She declined, and offered to bring me another order. I declined, worried that it would take another 30 minutes. The server did bring me hot sweet potato fries after 10 minutes, and the color difference was amazing. My lukewarm fries were a dark orange while the new batch was bright orange. I do not like to be lied to or to insinuate that I was lying about the food. What started out as a pleasant lunch turned out to be less so. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Although the wait was long, everything from the service to the bread basket, appetizers and main course were absolutely unbelievable. The prices are extremely reasonable for such a wonderful, scenic, dining experience. The attention to detail was amazing. Complimentary valet parking and cocktail waitresses who serve you beverages while you wait! I have no complaints and will come back to East Dennis JUST for this incredible dining experience.

  • Andrea M.

This was bad, just bad. We should have turned around when the woman at the desk taking names made us wait for her personal phone conversation to end, but hey, we all have to squeeze things in, didn't initially take that as an indication of how the night would go. I wrote a review about this place a while back, applauding the changes and moving forward. I was wrong because it was true; but what's also true is that one bad experience can kill a place. I don't know if it was worse that they openly admitted to skipping over our party in the whole game of seating or that they tried using the excuse that all those other people were regulars....really? All of them? (We actually come and eat in the winter too - imagine that!) We like to say that we've been coming to the Marshside since before we were born, because it's true. Things change though, people try to change what was wonderful about a place and suddenly it's an overpriced tourist attraction. It's heartbreaking though, Mary Lou would be horrified that her beautiful restaurant has become staffed like this. The whole story will bore you, and yes, we always believe in letting a place fix the problem and moving on, but looking around last night, we weren't the only ones being treated poorly. And giving us free apps, while dinner still takes an hour to get to the table, it's less appealing when you don't pay attention and realize there's a gluten free menu at the table and none of the apps you chose for the table are edible for that person, nor healthy choices. We didn't want free stuff, we wanted the nice meal we still paid for even though it was meh. Oh, and yes, we do know who the current owner and managers are so when they're checking in on tables and chatting with customers, we notice that too, and leave wondering just what did we do to get treated so poorly. They couldn't be more hands off while trying to pretend they cared about how horrible our evening was. Sad. Waste of money. Waste of time. Regardless of who you are, eating out socially is generally a choice you make in spending your hard earned disposable income. I just like to go places where they don't take that for granted. And one last thing, our mother was treating is with this dinner and she was embarrassed that it was supposed to be a lovely dinner of appreciation. You don't do that to the person who 35 years ago was bringing all six of us kids for dinner because it was such a good, wholesome place. Now some of us bring our kids and last night had the duty of explaining what bad service means. It's always sad to see an institution die...on the bright side, send stupid tourists there and we can all go where we're appreciated.

We went to the Marshside on Sunday night with my cousin who is a Cape Cod local. We got there at dusk and the scenery was really spectacular. We had drink at the bar, which was a little pricy, but good. The bartender was even kind enough to take our picture! My cousin and I split dinner - the wedge salad, the seafood plate and the ribs. Each came with 2 sides - we had green beans, squash, sweet potatoes. All in all, the food was quite good and I would recommend to others.

Getting better all the time. Very reliable. Great place when you're on the Cape. Make sure you stop here at least once.

We live north of Boston and were directed to the Marshside by the innkeeper at the B &B we were staying at. The rather large place was packed at 7pm on a Saturday night with families and folks eating at the bar, but there were still a couple of tables for two available, so we were seated without a wait. I don't believe they take reservations. The view out of the very large windows overlooking the salt marsh was terrific. The waitress who served us was terrific, and my wife and I found the food to be excellent. She had a house salad and a baked seafood platter that was huge. Everything on it, salmon, shrimp, scallops, cod was fresh and tasty. I had the stuffed haddock, a pretty traditional choice, but the haddock couldn't have been any fresher. It had just the right amount of stuffing and topped with a really good lobster cream sauce. Even the green beans and mashed potatoes that came with the entre were above par. Marshside was middling pricey, but for the quality of the food and quantity, well worth the expense. If we visit the Brewster area again, I would definitely return to the Marshside.

Wow! Best oysters I have ever eaten in my life!! Pricey but everything is impeccable. Swordfish tips good; Sassy shrimp great. Tasted the Lobster Mac and Cheese so had to go back again last night. Wow! Oysters amazing again and Lobster Mac and Cheese phenomenal. Service great as well.

Marshside Restaurant is a big family-style restaurant located in a town with nothing else to do. Many of the business in this area are open seasonally (summer) and closed for the rest of the year, so where else will the locals go? Of course, they go to Marshside because there is nowhere else to go! The restaurant is very nice and has plenty of space. The service was excellent and the food was just OK. The food here is nothing special, but it sure is priced like something special. For example, my wife had a "bowl" of the Marshside seafood stew which costs $11.50. In reality, this "bowl" is really a cup. If the bowl is this small, I imagine the cup is actually just a thimble. The soup was delicious and the seafood was really fresh, but this appetizer is not worth $11.50 I had the fish & chips, which really should be called "chips and fish" because it only came with 2 average sized pieces of fish and lots of fries. The fish was fresh and not greasy or over-fried, and the fries were also good and not greasy. The homemade coleslaw was actually really good. The downside is that this dish costs $16.50 and I was still hungry after I finished it. Marshside is an average family restaurant with great service and fresh food, but it seems to be over-priced. I recommend sticking with the non-seafood items and keeping it simple (chicken sandwich or a burger) at this place, which is priced a little cheaper than the seafood.

Where's Waldo? We have been frequenting this place beginning in the 80's.It's now much larger however they still have the recipe for a great experience. Scallops cooked to perfection and a superb Ruben sandwich made for a great early dinner. Attentive staff and great marsh views. A great place to visit.

Wow - I can't believe the negativity toward Marshside. I can believe a bit of it as to the service - especially the hostess station which is under-supervised and poorly managed. But the servers (ours was great), food and BRAND-NEW (3 seasons only) decor (The restaurant was completely re-done in 2008.) are terrific. Our party of 5 was not seated right away (due to the crappy hostess station procedures - or lack thereof) but once seated - at a spacious wood table in comfy chairs - overlooking the marsh we were waited on promptly. After a round of soft drinks (even an Arnold Palmer), and a plate or crispy-thin fried onions, we got our meals. My 5 year old & I split the lobster mac 'n cheese which was a creamy-rich-artery-clogging, diet-busting crockery of delight. Brimming with "Shahp Cheddah" and chunks of lobster meat (2-3 big claws and other chunks) this would make for a perfect side for the table. I can not fathom how a single person could eat this alone. I could feel my gall bladder go into overdrive upon consumption. To guild the lily, the crock arrived with 2 buttery-garlicky toast slices. (As if we needed more carbs and butter!) Meanwhile - my MIL ordered a tender-crisp fried fish rueben that burst with flavor and was so delicious. "Nice buns!" is what I thought upon seeing the guys burgers - perfectly juicey and cooked as each guy had ordered. American Girl dolls are give to little gals to sit with them at the table - plus crayons. A nice, nice place - and it may now out-rank Chapin's which we also frequent each season. (I love Chapin's, but I am now really lovin' the Marshside.) I am sorry to hear the negative reviews, as we actually had a great, great late lunch here. (I can imagine during peak season and peak dinner hours that the place is poorly run, though). Marshside - please improve your hostess and seating procedures to ensure that guests are promptly greeted and seated (or told where to wait and for how long they think the wait will be.). Keep a crock of lobster mac warm for me, though!

I've had a couple good meals here this summer... But have to say their hours aren't the best. They close early at night (perhaps geared towards the older crowd?!) they don't offer Sunday brunch, which seems like they should since they close so early at night & now have a bakery (which is only open until 10:30am even if the sign outside says open...) They have great Bloody Mary's so brunch again would seem to fit... The creepy dolls they offer to the kids - talk about nightmares. I'm so glad my niece didn't ask for one, I can't get the creepy dolls face out of my head!

One of the best upscale restaurants on the Cape. The inside is gorgeous, with high ceilings and big open windows to give you a good view of the marsh. The food is fantastic. We always get the Sesuit Sassy shrimp for an appetizer and they are to die for. The shrimp are huge and crisp with a slightly tangy sauce. The rest of the food is also really good and the desserts are one of a kind. Everything is made in house and that makes it extra special. The service is always on point and I love to go back again and again.

We were pleasantly surprised at our most recent dinner here. I've eaten here many times and always found it to be so-so. Not bad, but not great either. On this night, however, everything seemed to be just a cut above what I've experienced in the past. Our fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. The vegetables--green beans--were fresh and not overcooked(actually, a bit undercooked). I rarely order dessert, but three of us split the grapenut pudding. It was to-die-for! Creamy and not too sweet. The building itself is absolutely gorgeous and overlooks the marsh. There are not a lot of family restaurants on this side of the Cape, so this place gets REALLY, REALLY busy. Be prepared for a wait.

dinner recently.....on a tuesday night and could not find a parking spot, they were very busy.......beautiful interior, fireplace and lots of glass, great views of the marsh that surrounds the marshside (duh)....service was pleasant and attentive, food was very good and served generously, i had chicken parm, wife had the pork tenderloin special, we enjoyed both and had left overs, drinks were also very good and served with the ice and some extra in the shaker....really liked it here!!!

I visited Marshside for the first time on October 12, 2012; my traveling companions have visited many times and love it. I really enjoyed it. This is a lovely restaurant situated in a calm, peaceful area of the Cape. The gardens which front the restaurant are Cape-lovely. Attentive and friendly staff, a nice menu selection (I was there for an early, light lunch), reasonably priced. A very tasty corn chowder and fresh mixed greens salad were perfect for me. A light, airy atmosphere with a beautiful view of the marsh. A really nice front porch. This is my new favorite place -- Chapin's and Clancy's remain favorites, also.

Amazing picturesque view, especially at sunset. The bread was delicious, our portions were plentiful. My one complaint was that I ordered the fish stew and when it showed up, there was a quarter inch of oil on top. I was sort of grossed out.

I hadn't been to the Marshside in years, certainly not since it was renovated. I went there for lunch with a family member. I stared with the seafood stew which was fantastic then enjoyed steamed mussels which were also very good. My mother had the Marshside Wedge Salad which she said was "to die for" and would go back just for that salad.

Don't waste your time. Common food bad service in a nice setting. I have never given a 1 star. We actually ended up leaving. If the 12 year old hostess was any more condescending i would have left earlier. Bar was not very available to those of us waiting for a table and staff seemed predisposed to the fact that there were no other options nearby so you had to put up with their terrible support.

As an ecology, one doesn't often travel to "the marsh" - waterfront dining is at the harbor, certainly, or even overlooking the wide sea, but not usually focused on quiet inland estuaries. The Marshside Restaurant brilliantly changes this, giving us the ability to float over the landscape. The setting is beautiful and the building a perfect venue for expansive views in all directions. The generous booths line up with each window opening, and a level change allows for views from every seat in the house. The building is also perfectly assembled - no mismatched corners, the outside porch is biscuited together so there are no visible screws, even the shingles on the outside come to a well considered edge. The gracious porch on the outside hosts you while waiting for a table. The lighting is perfect - soft but bright. And even the acoustic buffering is thoughtfully done (look closely at the ceiling and you'll see the subtle fabric panels integrated into the ceiling beams - no acoustic tiles here, thank god!) The food was great! As others have noticed, the breadbasket was fantastic, and the wine glasses generous. We had the wedge salad and crab cakes, steamers and fish and chips. The food was gracious and comforting and while its not challenging or provocative food, it is simple and well made. The service was a little clumsy, but the overall ambience and comfort made for a beautiful late summer dinner and some perfect memories before we head home.

This building is absolutely gorgeous. You can tell the owner put a lot of thought, effort and money into the design. The exposed wood, high ceilings, large windows and picturesque marsh the building sits on, makes for a amazing ambiance. That being said, the rest of the experience here is just eh. I don't eat seafood so I can't personally comment on that, but those in my party said it was good but nothing out of this world. For the non-seafood dishes I've had, again they were just ok, nothing to write home about. There is always a wait, I guess because there aren't a lot of nicer sit-down restaurants like this in the area. And the wait is not like 10-15 min, it's like an hour plus. It's nice to have the pretty marsh to sit and enjoy but I don't think it's worth waiting that long for the food. Also, because there are so many people waiting, it feels like the wait staff is trying to rush you in and out so if you are looking for a place to sit an enjoy your meal for 2 hours, this isn't the place. Also, I don't know if it's because of the high ceilings or if because the place was packed, but I felt like the noise level was very high, which I don't have a problem with but some people might.

My friend told me this place was decent and since we wanted something close, we picked this place right down the road. I have to say that it was just okay. The lobster was okay, the scallops were very overcooked. My friend had the seafood platter which he also thought was just okay. I thought the lobster mac and cheese was excellent though. Also, the bread was great! They did run out of corn so we were a little disappointed by that. Overall, the meal was acceptable but nothing too exciting. The wait for a table was quite long but it was the high season.

The Marshside offers a more upscale Cape dining experience in comparison to some of the other surrounding restaurants. Don't get me wrong, I love a fried scallop platter and fries served at a picnic table as much as the next person. But if you're looking for something a bit fancier, The Marshside may be your answer. It offers lovely views of the Marshes of East Dennis, complete with local wildlife and pretty sunsets. The decor of the restaurant looks to be completely renovated. Everything on the menu is delicious, they have a good selection of beer, wine and liquor. The mixed drink menu is somewhat limited but everything on there is great. The service here is always attentive, and they bring you a delicious basket of assorted breads, muffins and crackers at the start of your meal. Going here is always a highlight of the week.

Really love this place - beautiful building and breathtaking views of the marsh and birdwatching out the huge windows. Food is delicious - loved the corn chowder and cobb salad, service for lunch on Memorial Day weekend was just right - fast and attentive without being annoying. Good place for families or couples, pricing seems appropriate - less expensive options available or higher end depending on your mood and wallet. Check it out, well worth a visit!

I went back for my second time this past Saturday night. We arrived early at 5:45pm and there was already a 45 minute wait. We were happy to wait though as the food is amazing and the outside deck and garden are beautiful. There is a bar waitress that comes outside to take orders which is great! We started off with the bread basket which is the best bread basket that you will ever find! It included these brioche rolls, blueberry bread and cheesy flat bread slices. The blueberry bread was unexpected and absolutely amazing. For appetizers, my family split the calamari, mussels, clam chowder and lobster stew. The calamari and mussels were good but nothing special. The clam chowder was good but the lobster stew was delicious! There were so many chunks of lobster! For my entree, I had been dreaming about the seafood fettuccine and it was just as good as I remembered! It had scallops, shrimp and lobster in it. It is very rich and amazing! I was not able to finish it so I doggy bagged it and it was still as delicious reheated! Also, my father got the fried oysters which were very good as well. So good that we got two orders of it to bring to the beach the next day for lunch! The portions were a good size and we all went home completely stuffed and with doggy bags! Unfortunately, the service was kind of spotty but the food absolutely made up for it! I can't wait to go back!

I grew up going to Marshside every summer on our family vacation. Back then, the atmosphere was simple; I distinctly remember feeling like it was a cross between the pub in my hometown and a casual, seaside family restaurant. Marshside has been remodeled since my last visit to the cape, and the food is just as delicious as I remembered -- but oh my goodness, the remodeling! What used to be a restaurant you'd probably not even take a second glance at (photographic proof: partners.static.cityvote… ) has attained the style and ambiance of a countryside spa. While the dining experience at the "new" Marshside has become somewhat more elegant than the Marshside of my youth, I can't say I mind the improvement. :)

Gorgeous location overlooking the marsh with floor to ceiling glass on two sides of the restaurant. Parking was complimentary valet. We arrived without reservations around 5 and didn't have a problem getting seated ... however, an hour later the place was packed. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bread baskets brought to our table were filled with a wide selection of amazing carbs. Unfortunately, this is where the glowing review ends. The food wasn't very good and for an area that thrives on seafood, it was poorly prepared. I had the salmon with squash puree -- the salmon was *dry*, totally overcooked. I could only eat half of it before giving up. The squash was chunky and stringy glop -- not appealing in either flavour or texture. Others in our group had the same problem with their entrees ... it just wasn't very good when compared to other restaurants we ate at during the week.

I keep wanting to like this place, but they are overpriced and underwhelming. It's a beautiful restaurant with awesome views, but service the last 3 times we have gone has been very slow, anything coming from the bar will take just as long as the food. We have been at off times and off season and still get the same result.

  • Ned H.

HEADLINE: WOW, it's been a while since I've been in here and the remodel is breathtaking ... the food and service are just ahhight ... but, sadly, it just seems to be missing its former warmth and soul. Back up on the Cape after several years for a long weekend with brothers and Mom pre-celebrating her 80th birthday and we decided to stop in here for a quick cocktail and some apps during an early afternoon of beach gazing, gull watching, and house spotting all around the backwater environs along 6A. Now we all remember Marshside as a quaint, cozy, jammed-to-the-gills home-made breakfast joint years back. Well, lemme tell ya', that's all dramatically changed with the massive reconstruction / remodel this place has obviously gone through. Everything in terms of finish and materials is absolutely first class and stunningly appealing to the eye. Stone flooring, wainscoting, windows, lighting, wood accents, all world class ... almost to the point of it begging to be the star of the show ... As it turns out, it was the star of the show ... not the food, the bar, nor the service. We arrived around 3:00 PM in the afternoon this past Friday and the place was deserted. Looking inside from the reception area we noticed that the best table in the house (you know, the one all the way in the back on the back left corner facing the inlet and marsh) was available ... as was practically every other table in the place ... and we asked to be seated there. Our hostess appeared a little annoyed that we would not take a table already set up and serviced, but agreed ... offering us to sit down in the waiting area by the front door until it was ready. Almost 20 minutes later we get the Papal Decree issued that we can go sit down. Why it took twenty minutes to put five place settings down is beyond me ... but, whatevah. Our waitress appears to be a seasoned professional versus school kids on their summer break so we expected pretty good service versus the horror stories relayed herein. Having said that, she was visibly dismayed that we would only be ordering drinks and apps. We around the table put in orders for beers / lemonade / chowdahs / seafood stews / o-rings. Pints were quickly served ... Mom's lemonade took a few more minutes to appear. Food arrived in about 15 minutes ... but at this point, we were just as happy sucking down some suds, engaged in conversation and watching the inlet briskly disgorge itself as the tide approached low and the blue herons dive-bombed everything in sight. My New England Clam Chowdah ... just OK ... passable ... thin on the cream broth but not, thankfully, the wallpaper paste you get at some joints. Decent amount of clams but there was just something missing ... nothing to knock your socks off about, if you know what I mean. There are SO many things you can do to a chowdah to bring it to a differentiated life ... bacon, or the preferred, salt pork, sherry, paprika, tabasco, new red potatoes, shallots, a healthy dose of fresh clam broth, fresh cracked black pepper, worcestershire, Land Of Lakes real salted butter. This rendition was pretty plebeian. Bro's fish stew, on the other hand, was reported to be "very good". But he now hails from Maine ... what the hell does he know about cuisine ... ;-)) Onion rings, the one thing we all scoffed at another bro for ordering, actually became the hit of the day ... very, very nice shoestring o-rings with the onion flavor easily able to escape the breading. The effort to obtain these over time, versus the "competition", started to resemble a WWF cage match very quickly. Harpoon IPA's from the tap were cold, but didn't seem all that fresh ... I may just have to blame that on the time of day we were in and lack of turnover ... but maybe I shouldn't be so forgiving. We seemed to be rushed to have our settings cleared and upon finding out that only one round was in order, our waitress abandoned us to ... well, I don't know to do what ... there were less than a handful of patrons in the entire place. Marshside used to be a/the go-to breakfast place for us kids/young adults growing up with a vacation home on the Cape. The place was always happily jammed to the gills and it seemed as if you were being fed by a best friend's Mom back then. Apparently, they don't even serve breakfast anymore and have gone to lunch and dinners only. The new place has lost the soul of the old place ... and despite fabulous views and resplendent construction, architecture and surfaces, it is 'stillborn' versus the warm family kitchen I have in my memories. I think I'll only return to memories of the Marshside of my youth, adolescence and young adult years ... I don't think I'll return here.

I remember Marshside when it was (literally) half - or less - the restaurant is is today. I even brought a group of friends here after a sunset cruise on Sesuit Harbor. ..but that was "before". Well, the benchmark has been raised. Same great food, but the new space is gorgeous, spacious, and has a beautiful view! It was dusk in the winter, so I didn't take any photos, but it was still lovely. The view of the marshes is best enjoyed during the summer months, but the menu at Marshside can be savored all year-round. The dual-sided fireplace provides a warm ambiance - and can also give off some serious heat - which was welcomed on this blustery December day. As I only stopped in for a casual meal, I did not choose any of their excellent seafood offerings (although, I've had them before), but instead, went for a satisfying cheeseburger, which came with fries. The menu states that the meat is ground daily, and it was, in fact, a very tasty burger; one of the best I've had in recent memory, to be sure. Since it was a day with a bit of a chill in the air, I also opted to sample one of the wine selections, which also enhanced the glow of the fire. If you're in the mid-cape area and want a nice dinner, enjoyable view and elegant ambiance, I would not hesitate to suggest the Marshside. I would also say that if you're seeking a family restaurant for a night out with the loud, rowdy kids - while Marshside can surely accommodate your needs - I would expect that the other diners (myself included) would appreciate it if you left them at home and brought them takeout.

Meh... The food was decent. My dinner, the Swordfish Tips, were a bit hit-or-miss. Most of the pieces were delicious but a couple times I got a very fishy tasting piece. My brother's Lobster Mac-n-Cheese was by far the best thing we ordered. The other highlight of the night was my martini. I'm not sure if this is normal, but they brought it in the shaker and there was about 2 full drinks in there. 2 for the price of 1, perfect! I've heard the view is spectacular but for dinner that's a moot point cause you can't see anything outside anyway.

My husband and I ate here this past Saturday night at my mother-in-law's suggestion. We got there around 7PM and were told there was a 45-minute wait. There are a few benches on the front porch, which is very pretty, but it was somewhat crowded out there, so we sat in the waiting area inside. There was a cocktail waitress for the outside and inside waiting areas, so that was nice to not have to go and wait at the bar. The decor was very pretty and casual - whites and tans with light wood and tile. The view out the back toward the marsh and ocean was gorgeous. We were seated after 35 minutes. We were served a bread basket right away, which included a couple very good rolls and a few large crispy cheesy bread-chip type things, which were also very good. We ordered steamers for an appetizer (from the specials menu and not the regular menu). They were delicious. For an entree, I ordered the baked seafood platter (baked stuffed shrimp, cod, scallops, and salmon topped with lemon butter sauce) and chose mashed potatoes and squash for sides. My husband ordered the baked scallops and chose rice and green beans for sides. We were both very happy with all of the food except for the green beans, which tasted almost like they were from a can. Our waitress was very nice and friendly but a little on the slow side. It didn't really bother me though. Unfortunately we were so full after dinner that we didn't even look at the dessert menu. But we will definitely be back again!

Beautiful post & beam design, overlooking the marshes. Very classy outfit without the snobby attitude. Great wine list and the food is FRESH!!:) Service is wonderful, I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. They cater to!!! all even have a wonderful waiting area to relax in also provide American girl dolls for the kids and little high chairs

4.5 stars, really. It was a busy summer night and by 6 PM the wait was already an hour long which is the norm for Cape Cod. We sat on the beautiful porch, looked out over the marsh, and had a few cocktails. It was one of the most pleasant hour long waits I can recall. Their seafood stew is totally wicked amazing and a meal in itself. The cocktails are very (very) generous. The service was outstanding. We were shocked at the reasonable cost. The interior is light and airy and done in earth tones that suit the marsh view nicely. We lucked out with roomy booth seating at one of the large windows overlooking the marsh and I think that really added to our night. I'd call much of the menu "upscale clam shack" with lots of high quality fried seafood and delicious french fries but there are also plenty of broiled and grilled choices. It's a seafood restaurant first, so the beef and chicken selections are sparse but that's a good thing in my book. We'll definitely be back.

My family and I have been vacationing on the cape for the past fifteen years. The restaurants we normally go to were starting to getting a little boring for us and we were looking for something new and different. A friend recommended the Marshside Restaurant to us and we decided to give it a try. From what we were told the restaurant has been recently renovated. By the looks of it, the whole building was rebuilt from scratch. The evening started off with complementary valet parking. Upon entering the building, I was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful and modern the restaurant looked. After a drink at the bar (bartender was very friendly) we were seated. The menu was a mix of everything. Pasta dishes, steak, baked and fried fish. The rolls we started dinner with were excellent. Freshly made and warm. I ended up ordering the chicken saltimbanco from the specials menu and it was delicious. The portion size was excellent and the sauce was just right. My father had the New York Strip, and my mother had the honey chicken salad. Everything was thrilled with their meals and we will surely be returning in future years. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a restaurant with a modern atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, and reasonable prices.

First of all, I thought the price should be listed as $$$, not $$. The atmosphere was very nice, although crowded and a bit noisy. The fact that they don't take reservations is a bit of a pain, but we were able to get a lovely bench outside to sit on, and have a drink out there (the cocktail waitresses will serve you outside). I would say the food is just a bit above average, and overpriced for what you get. The wait staff could have been a little more patient and not rushed us so much.

Had lunch today with the family. When you look around, the woodworking is top notch. This building is a showcase of fine workmanship and details in and out. The flowers outside are colorful and welcoming. A far cry from the old, rickety place. Another reviewer misses the old place, but I don't. I will say the prices aren't the same as the old Marshside, but hey, nothing is the same anymore. You get what you pay for. Service was terrific, food was delicious and where it was suppose to be, was piping hot. I had the seafood stew, we shared mussels and I ended up with a turkey club that was very good. My wife had aq lobster salad role and my son had a blue cheese and bacon burger. I recommend the new Marshside and the views are terrific.

Marshside Restaurant, since being remodeled looks absolutely fantastic. The interior views of the marsh and harbor are equally fantastic. The service is good and friendly. The food is very typical fare but prepared better then others of its kind. Portion size is just right. I had the Paris Melt, anything sauteed in butter and garlic sounds good to me, and it was very good. It was served with standard bagged potato chips, for a restaurant like this I would have expected homemade chips. Others in the group had the seafood and even though they live on the cape and have seafood all the time they were impressed with it. Overall we had a great experience here, the service was great, friendly, helpful, and its kid friendly.

I've been to the Marshside many times and it is above average in food. The wait staff is very friendly. I would go back. It's a big improvement from before. My only complaint is the gravel parking lot. I sure hope they get that done. My wife was in a wheelchair and they have a great ramp to the entrance, but getting out of the car can be difficult in the parking lot even when you pull up close. However, nice location and views.

Okay food, nice atmosphere, but certainly not worth the wait or price or attitude of the managers.

An attractive, modern restaurant, in a beautiful location. The food was good, portion size reasonable. The service was friendly and prompt, without being rushed. Be prepared for valet parking. We arrived at about 7:30 Thursday, advised of a 30 minute wait (with pagers). There seemed to be plenty of waiting area both inside and outside. We decided to drive around the beautiful countryside nearby, and returned in about 20 minutes. The pager went off very close to the 30 minutes quoted earlier. The noise level was moderate, and the table spacing was reasonable. All in all, a very pleasant experience. We will return next year!!!

They have the best oysters on the half shell. Not only comes with cocktail sauce but a vinager sauce that was amazing on the oysters. Also, check out the lobster and Mac it is one of the best ever. Staff is great and the restaurant is causal classy!!!!

UPDATE 2: The new Marshside has proven to be a much more upscale place than its predecessor; rumpled shorts and flip-flops now seem out of place. Business is booming: the wait for a table on Friday and Saturday nights in season is usually 1-2 *hours,* if not more. I'm glad for the owners, but the food has become utterly mediocre over the last couple of years, a standard Cape Cod menu, very middle of the road in concept and execution. They even removed my son's favorite, PB&J, from the kid's menu. Also, they no longer serve breakfast. We still go once or twice a year but it's for the view, not the food. I've dropped my rating from four stars to two. UPDATE: A completely rebuilt Marshside is now open. Here's a story about the project: capecodonline.com/apps/p… I'm ambivalent about the new place. The new building is much larger, and based around a large, high-ceilinged dining area, broken into smaller areas by booths, low walls, and a raised area in the middle. It feels more like an official restaurant, whereas the old place was like tables crowded into someone's living room and porch. (The cups of trivia cards that used to be on every table? Gone.) The new restaurant takes much better advantage of the marsh views, which I really like. I visited a week after it reopened, and the crew was still getting used to the new system. The has been updated and has more light options, I think. Here's what I wrote about the Marshside before the rebuild: A low-key local hangout with pretty good food, where regulars are happily greeted by name. The breakfast menu is diverse, with large portions of waffles, omelettes, corned beef hash, etc. At lunchtime, choose from burgers, chicken sandwiches, and several seafood dishes like baked scrod, crab cakes, or fried clams (lightly battered, with bellies, quite tasty!) The lunch menu for kids includes pasta, grilled cheese, fish and chips, and a DIY sundae. Decor and dress are highly casual, with shorts and Docksiders aplenty. The interior is hard to classify, a little country, a little seaside, with Trivial Pursuit cards on the tables to pass the (occasionally long) wait for food. There is often a 15-20 minute wait on weekends in season.

Just had dinner here with my kids, great atmosphere and the food was very good. The staff was good and knowledgeable, my daughter has a tree nut allergy and they new exactly what she could eat. Only negative was the food came quickly which is good for kids but if you were out for a nice dinner you might feel rushed.

This restaurant is beautifully redone and offers a fantastic view of the marsh. Whether you sit window-side or on the higher level, you will be satisfied by the view. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The menu is typical Cape Cod fare and everything tasted homemade. They have a good selection of salads if you want a lighter meal, as well as fried creations. Certainly worth a stop

New and improved restaurant facilities, but missing the atmosphere and taste of the former Marshside. I went shortly after they reopened and they may still have been getting their feet back on the ground. The food seems a bit more done to formula now, flavorful but not quite a special as it once was. The new layout takes advantage of the location and the views, and it is a much nicer spot to wait if no table is ready. But I'm afraid they have dropped their breakfasts, and I'm anxious to see if they will still be open in the winter months. And where are the quirky seasonal decorations?
